Need to replace my sunroof track/frame
Need to replace my sunroof track/frame
Found the whole frame, motor, and glass in Houston for $200. Driving over to pick it up tomorrow morning. Cheapest I could find for the frame new is around $1500. Has anyone attempted this repair successfully? If so, any tips or tutorial out there?
Looks like I have some work to do this weekend.
Ok, so I picked up the used sunroof. This was pulled right out of the car as a package, track, motor, and glass. Probably weighs close to 150 pounds. I am not going to be able to lift this up and bolt in by myself without some kind of makeshift lift inside the car. Unfortunately, I don't have anyone available this weekend to help me and I need it done by Tuesday.
My question is - can the glass be separated from the frame and then attached once the frame is secured?
Ah, just found out that the glass panels are removable from the frame. Always check your service manual first!

Done! Wasn't as hard as I'd thought it would be, even all by myself. Save yourself $2000+ and buy a used frame and install yourself.
Take your time aligning the sunroof glass panels per the direction in the service manual. Mine actually makes less noise now than before. I should have adjusted it a long time ago.
