Just Another Oil Consumption Problem (HELP) n14 r55

Hello NAM,

I've been putting off my oil consumption over the winter and just adding a quart about every 2-3 fill ups. Attached I have a video of it idling for 5 minutes and then I rev it up. This is usually the only times I actually see the smoke (other than drive thru places) It also has to be up to running temps it seems like.

What to know about the car:

Currently has a fairly major exhaust leak in the flex pipe. I was told this lack of back pressure could affect the turbo seals. I still have stock cat in DP and exhaust.

The turbo inlet tube cracked and I put a new alta one on. there was some oil residue in the turbo inlet as well as the tube but nothing major. I believe I have the updated valve cover. Car does not drip a drop. I do have the Craven dipstick.

Here is a big one:

A random hole occurred in my block about 8k ago. So I bought a donor motor and swapped it. The head wasn't as good on the donor as the one on the old one so those were swapped back. In correlation with this, I have white residue built up in my oil cap. I don't know if this from driving it a mile every day or if itsa head gasket. Coolant levels are fine.

Car seems to build boost fine and pull strong enough.

In conclusion here are the possibilities I think may be the problem.
Turbo seals, PCV valve, Piston blow by, head gasket

Any informative comments are greatly appreciated

-Trentan

p.s. I will edit as I remember more symptoms that may help the diagnostic

thanks NAM

I am going to guess that the PCV valve is faulty, seems like CC pressure is building up and would possibly cause both of these problems.

one mile drives will do that, but so will headgaskets and pcv failures

random hole in block? You mean it threw a rod? if you are concerned about the oil consumption do a leakdown test first

I appreciate your comment but no that is not what I mean. Car ran and drove fine but had a half dollar hole in it. It blew 3 shops minds.

I am currently looking around locally to see who does these tests as I do not have the resources right now

Check out this tech article: http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti..._Diagnosis.htm. It has a lot of great input about oil consumption. Read through it and see if it might help give you some additional input about your situation. You can also go to the bottom of the article and leave a comment with details from this thread. One of our MINI guru's should come back with some additional advice.
