How to replace running light?

My driver side front running light is out, I think it just needs a new bulb. The turn signal socked comes right out but I couldn't figure out how to get the clear bulb right beside it out, could anyone please advise? Hopefully this is the correct area, it's a 2006 Mini Cooper S.

Also it appears the dipstick broke off in the tube, has anyone encountered this and know how to get it out? I purchased this car used and the dipstick only has about 2 inches of the plastic attached to the handle. I bought a new one and when I put it in it feels like the old one is still there. I can get it down to the oil to check the level but if the old one is there I need to get it out.

Thanks!

Not sure about the bulb, but the broken off dipstick is a very common problem on these cars. I replaced mine with a very nice craven speed dipstick so I never had to deal with that.

It also twists and comes out just like the turn signal, but it's hard to grip and could be firmly stuck if it hasn't been out in a long time. Removing the turn signal socket first will give you more room to grip it. If it still doesn't budge, use a pair of pliers for more leverage to grip and twist it.

Try a tool retrieving tool that has a claw on the end. Great for working on your MINI when you drop hardware by accident.

Here is a new one if you decide to go back to stock:

On the front market bulbs:

You have to twist that little smaller bulb socket, they can be a pain to get out. The pliers work.

Great timing. I was scratching my head an hour ago after trying to remove the bulb with no luck, and just happened to stumble across this thread. Time to grab the pliers.

a lil silicon b4 you put it back in helps next time ...

if you still can't get it out, you can remove a couple of fasteners and pull back the wheel well liner yo get a 'straight on' approach ...
