Hatch Lid Holding Water
Hatch Lid Holding Water
Hey guys
Curious if anyone has found a suspect for the old hatch holding water issue. Whenever I go driving in the rain and open the hatch up, a fair amount of water gushes out of the hatch from in between the hatch itself and the plastic trim covering it.

Starting from top down.
3rd brake light.
Seal for boot grip handle.
better check the battery compartment, often the water makes its way to the latch mechanism and fills the battery box area like a small swimming pool destroying expensive electrical components in there.

At the very bottom of the boot hatch on the inside lip are two small, quarter inch slits/openings that drain the inside of the boot hatch. Make sure they are cleaned out. I use a tooth pick or a very small screw driver. I also use compressed air or a leaf blower to further ensure it's clean. Also I sealed the third brake light and boot handle with clear caulk and it eliminated the water in the battery compartment experienced after a heavy overnight rain. Good luck.
This. Mine takes on a little bit of water at the car wash, and also drains out the inner plastic cover when I raise the hatch to dry everything. My drain hole is clear, so that water would have drained out anyway if I had not lifted the hatch.
