Greatgro: Thanks for the advice. I tried that when I went to get some butter (my wife wanted to make hurricane cookies) before Jeanne hit and on my short drive it seemed to work, but I have yet to test it on the highway. I did notice that I managed to get the light to stay on for recirc while the rest of the system was off... that just might be the trick!

Hmm, sounds like SOMEBODY'S about to be slapped here, and it may not be the MSA.

i had the exact same problem with the auto A/C blowing hot air. what happens is the flaps stay in whatever position they were in when you hit off. what my mini tech told me to do, and this works perfectly, is to just turn the fan speed all the way down to zero (no bars) to shut off the system. the temp is still displayed at whatever temperature you want. what this does is shut off the compressor and fan, but it still keeps the flaps active, so it will allow air to come through the vents and regulate it to the temp selected. i have my A/C set to 68 or 70 and "auto". when i shut it off, i just hit the fan speed down to zero. no more hot air! and the cool thing is you can still adjust the temp of the air, and which vents the air will flow through. the system will continually adjust the flaps but keep the compressor and fan off. if you want no air at all, just hit recirc. try it, you'll like it!
