Fill plugs on supercharger.

I'm dying open them and see if there's any oil on it before I swap it out with a rebuilt one......BUT the plugs are stuck......would heating them with a torch hurt anything?

Any other suggestions on how to get them out?

I mean they are STUCK.........

Thats probably not too bad for the pulley side; capacity is 4.9 oz. PTO side is 1.4 oz; how much did you get? And how many miles on your s/c?

Have you check local hardware stores in their specialty fastener section? Or tried contacting Eaton?

If you search here, there are directions on installing a dipstick setup on the PTO end. That would eliminate the need for one of the plugs. In that post it also tells you what the thread pitch is, may help you track down what you need. Oh, check grainger and mcmaster-carr.

Here's a source for magnetic drain plugs for the supercharger. They are pricey, but the magnet for the water pump gear drive end seems like a good idea:

"Roots" is a two-scroll design-type of supercharger. Eaton is a manufacturer of Roots design superchargers.

(The GMC 6-71 & 8-71 superchargers used on diesel engines and Top Fuel dragsters are also of a Roots design.)

Here is a low-cost source for non-magnetic plugs that should be the correct type of O-ring pressure seal to work properly. At $3/each, it would be worth buying them to compare with the buggered ones you removed:

I saw the magnetic ones and the ones I can buy from Germany and China.

I ended up filling the plugs I have with................JB WELD and then I cut a nice screwdriver slot in them.....

Anyone know the torque setting for these plugs?
