Persistent A/C Problems...SOLVED!!!
well I dropped my beloved little friend off at the Sterling Mini dealer yesterday and left the keys with a note that they need to keep the car until they can get the A/C fixed. They've had it three times and can't seem to identify where the leak in the system is. Of course, it's getting cooler now, so I could probably wait until next Summer.. but it drives me crazy to have something that doesn't work on this otherwise perfect car. Anyone else with persistent A/C problems???
Update: MA found a hose they say must have been punctured when the engine was lifted during the pulley installation -- my fault, they added, but they're going to pay because it should have been discovered the first time they had the car. Anyway, a happy ending.

ZERO A/C related problems in both of our MINIs. Living in Miami, we use A/C 100% of the time. The A/C in my '04 MCS is better than the A/C it came in my wife's '02 MC CVT, but neither car has had any problems related to the climate control system.
I am afraid your dealer lacks a knowledgeable A/C technician. With the proper tools and training, a good tech can find and locate most R134a refrigerant leaks in your system.
Take it elsewhere if you have to. A/C problems while they are a pain in the butt, should not require 3 separate dealer visits to get them sorted out.
Good luck.
