R56 S A/C Recharge steps
R56 S A/C Recharge steps
Hey guys, I recently ran into an issue with my A/C not being cool and so I thought I'd attempt a recharge first, before bringing it in for service, knowing that it may be a leak but this could get me through the next few months of heat. I've got a 2010 S and am pretty confused about where the right connection is, there seems to be a variety of conflicting information as to which port (high or low) to connect a kit to. I bought a kit which doesn't have a gauge, so it looks like I'll have to grab one of those before I begin anyway.
Does anyone happen to have a diagram or know which is high or low, and how to properly do this?
Thanks in advance

Unless you have the equipment to do it correctly, I would take to a place that does nothing but AC work. You need to bring it down to a vacuum to do it correctly. When they do the vacuum, they'll know pretty quickly if there is a leak..
Don't try to fix it without proper tools or knowledge. You need to use an AC machine to properly fix the AC.
We have had to replace multiple refrigerant lines that run the passenger side of the engine bay just above the axle due to them being rubbed through by the axle. Quick fix, but you NEED an AC machine to fix the AC, period.

I've never had a problem with the ac in my MINI, but I've used AC Pro on my Land Rover and My Nissan Frontier. It's pretty simple. Here is a video from youtube. A/C Pro on Two Guys Garage - How to Recharge your A/C - YouTube
I have done the same on my Jeep without issues and it works great. Been a year.
