2006 Cabrio S | lubing top's frame joints?

Anybody done this other than taking it to a dealer?

My wife's needs it & since we're 100 miles from closest dealer she's reluctant to have them take care of it.

So I'm willing IF I can find somekinda info about what kind of lube to use (besides being pretty well equipped with lubes I also work in a hardware store) as well as just where it needs to be applied to be most effective.

Any & all suggestions / hints / links to other info on the 'net / opinions most welcome.

You got the best of the best, take good care of it. 100+K on ours. I use Liquid Wrench dry lube on all the scissor joints and it quiets right down. It needs re applied every so often but it doesn't gum up with crud. Of course how often the head is cycled can affect that too. Mine rarely goes up.

That works good , I do mine twice a year at the pivots, and the cable section with the sunroof grease. Once a year, i have 263K now and my second top was replaced at about ~50K.

Good suggestions, I was using white grease applied with a cotton swab. Reminds me that it is due again.
Dry lube sounds like a good solution.
