How to disconnect/disable backup alarm?
How to disconnect/disable backup alarm?
Hey all,
2005 R52 here. I keep a rear hitch mounted bike rack attached to the car. The backup sensor "sees" it so every time I put the car into reverse, the alarm goes straight to 100%. I'm looking for ways to disconnect or otherwise disable it.
Thanks!

You will either have to pull the speaker out and unplug it on the passenger side near the rear speaker, or have the MINI dealership turn if off , coded.
If you pull the fuse for the PDC , its a shared fuse with other things , so its no good to do that.

Do not pull the fuse....it is shared with the PS cooling fan....so that could become a very $$$ way to do it...
It should not be be too hard to just yank the bumper and uplug it...heck..might not even need to yank the bumper...you might be able to install a hidden on/off switch or a plug of sorts...so you can reactivate it when done with the bike-rack...if you can trace the wiring back to a easy location to access...could be even outside if it is just a spade terminal and plug that you separate to deactivate and plug in to activate then you add/remove the bike rack....

You should be able to have the dealer, or a MINI specialist with the coding software, turn off or lower the volume of the warning beeps. Does the PDC also have warning lights if the sound is disabled?
