I haven't put all back in as I revise my stereo sys, but I can say without any screw attached and just placed - no more rattles !!!
I'll update after screwing all in.
I dynamited the whole dash and other plastics on the car.
Maybe you Dyna-Matted it? Though after you get fed up enough with the rattling, I can imagine that dynamiting the thing could be an attractive notion...
I Dynmated my R53 and R56 and it helped a lot. For my CM I will be doing the dynamat and doing the dash in Alcantara. The Alcantara really helps get rid of squeaks, between plastics parts that touch each other

This is an interesting fix! Can definitely see how this can help from the components rubbing against each other. I have a few pieces in a non-MINI car that are driving me nuts. May have to try this out as well. Thanks for sharing.
I've got an irritating vibration that seems to emanate from the dash along the side where I've marked in red. I can press on either the side panel or the center panel and it goes away. I've gotta figure out how to disassemble that part. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Search the forum, you will find more than several threads about it!
I think taking out just the side panel on the right might help you solve the problem without taking all apart.
Mine is a 2008 Mini Cooper S: One of the causes of a very distinct, loose plasticky rattle (not a creaky sound), is the locator pins were installed improperly at the factory and they actually broke during installation. I guess it was a warranty issue that they knew about. They're just above the radio. I glued in several strips of felt, top and bottom, of the metal holes in the dash, definitely worked. Here is a picture of what they look like before. The black plastic on one of them was broken. Red arrow points to the guilty culprits.
