Another mini noise ???

Hello, just got this 2002 launch edition mini Cooper non supercharged and up until recently I've been hearing an odd whine/hum noise. I don't hear it at low speed but I do the faster I go. When I push the clutch in it goes away or when I slow down it ceases. It's really weird and I feel like it's something with the transmisson because I feel the noise vibration when I have my hand on the gear shifter. It is a 5 speed with 135k miles. Is the trans going bad ? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Humming makes me think wheel bearing, but when you press the clutch in and it stops makes me think otherwise. This guy here had a loud humming noise and his mechanic found shavings inside the transmission. If you think that the transmission is the source, you could check the fluid and see if you see anything unusual in the fluid.
