What is the cause of this?

So i just got my R53 jcw a couple months ago and just this norning, i noticed this strange, consistent knocking noise whenever my foot is off the gas pedal. So after taking apart the driver side wheel, i noticed the suspension boot was literally torn and was hanging loosely. I doubt this is the cause of the knocking sound, but maybe it can lead to figuring it out.

Is the noise being hidden by driving or is it not happening.? What about on the gas while in neutral?

Yes while I'm accelerating, the noise is gone. When in neutral there is no noise when idoling or pressing the gas.

So is the noise coming from the driver side suspension or in the engine bay? If you want a new protection boot we have them HERE.

Looks like stock springs, Is you strut shot and bottoming out. Looks like it hit the bump stop and the dust boot was cracked and worked it way split ?
