Knee Bolster removal

The only threads I can find are about 1st gen MC. I don't want to brake anything. I see some screws at the bottom, what else is there to get the DS knee bolster off?

If you are talking about the large piece under the steering wheel, remove the 3 screws on the bottom and pull. It will pop off. You can't really break anything.

I usually pull from the bottom. You'll hear it go pop, pop. There are 4 hidden posts holding it on.

No need to remove any screws. It has friction fit posts at the top and tabs along the bottom that are shaped to work like a hinge. Pull at the top until it releases. If it doesn't release, you aren't pulling hard enough (don't be a wimp about it). Once the top posts release, the panel tilts down and is easy to pull off from the hinge tabs at bottom.

Is that for the 2nd gen? I've removed the panel a dozen times and never noticed the hinge feature.

The panel looks like this on the back and comes out. http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/show...31#51162757647
