Squeak coming from somewhere in the back - driving me crazy!
Hey Everyone,
Wondering if anyone has ever come across a high-pitch squeaking noise coming from somewhere in the back of the cabin when you go over bumps, rough roads etc. It annoys me to the point that I have to keep the rear seats down all the time. My guess is that it's coming from the hinges for the rear seats, or perhaps something to do with the hanging cover for the trunk area. Has anybody ever encountered this, or have any suggestions for what to do?
Cheers,
AB

When you put the seats down, the noise disappears? The MINI is known to have some squeaks and rattles in the interior unfortunately. There's a few threads about it on NAM here and here. Some noted the passenger rear head rest. Try lifting it up a bit and see if the noise goes away. Are you still on the run flats? Those typically cause a harsher ride and some people who have changed them out for non run flats eliminated a lot of interior noise. You could try using felt tape or 61-13-2-359-177 (which is what the dealer uses) to eliminate the noise you're hearing in the rear if you're able to track down the source.

cheers, pelican parts, I'll check it out. I do have the run-flats, but unfortunately got them only a few years ago so won't be time to change them for a while. It's interesting you mention the sport suspension though - I'm getting to the point where I think I'm going to keep the car for the long term, even if I eventually move on to something else as my day to day driver. Have you ever heard of anyone downgrading from the sport suspension to the regular suspension? Also, to get rid of the squeaks have you ever heard of anyone using a caulking gun to fill in gaps that might be rattling?
