HELP !! P0720 and P0715 codes

I just bought my 2013 MCS about 2 moths ago. Now I have 2 codes showing up.

The codes are P0720 and P0715

Car is not under warranty. Has anyone seen these errors? I 've searched everywhere on the net, but cant find any real info for our Minis.

I know what the codes are for, but what is the fix or where do I start looking?

Thank you in advance.

Are there any symptoms that you're experiencing other than the CEL being on? Not much out there for the issue with MINI's unfortunately. P0720 - Output Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction - more info here. I'd start by maybe checking your output shaft speed sensor, there are some diagnostic steps at that link. P0715 - Transmission Input/Turbine Speed Sensor Circuit Malfunction - more info here. It may be a good idea to stop by your local MINI indy shop and see what they can find as this may be a little tricky to diagnose.

Well, I just bought it a little while ago, I've had nothing but crap luck with this car.

Right now here are the current issues:

P0720
P0715
Someone hit the rear drivers side of the bumper, the rear edge to the tire...FML... they didn't stick around to see any damage or leave any info.
It's idling rough
yesterday I went to move it in the driveway and the battery was dead, got it started and antifreeze comes spilling out everywhere from the overflow tank.
Now the car is in LIMP mode because of whatever P0720 and P0715 are.
Also noticed that all 4 tires are reporting low on the pressure system.

The closest dealer is over 2.5 hrs away

Sorry to hear that someone hit you and left. Those links I listed have some good diagnostic information so I'd start there. Where do you live? I'd recommend a MINI independent shop rather than the dealer. It seems like there are a few issues going on here. Have you check the tire pressures to make sure they're at the recommended PSI?

I live in Maine. I may have found a place about an hour away, but I cant drive the car the way it is. The tire pressures were all around the same PSI 29-33, but it is starting to get colder here at night, so that might be the PSI issue.

Just a bunch of bad luck. I was trying to figure out if the right rear speed sensor might have got damaged when the mini was hit. The codes came on close to that time frame.

No, it's an internal sensor. You have one in the front and rear of the transmission. The transmission module watches both to detect a slippage issue or gear issue. It knows what RMP's you should be at from gear and engine RPM info. 24157551107 is the part we are talking about, which is number #5 on the diagram below. The output speed sensor is 24157551108, which is #7 below (right next to the other one). Both are located in the sump of the transmission. You would have to remove the oil pan to get access to them. It's weird that both would fail, so maybe it's possible the harness is pinched or something of that sort? If you clear the code does it come back right away again? I would charge the battery, clear the codes and see what happens. Sometimes with a bad battery the voltage pulls too slow during cranking then causes odd electrical issues. With the coolant, is it overheating at all?

As for shops, I did find Autowerkes Maine and have heard of them. Not sure how far they're from your location.
