R56 Windshield Wipers Won't Shut Off!!

I just replaced my SZL while upgrading to a MFSW. The SZL was off of a similarly configured 2009 Mini S with both rain sensor and DSC, just like mine.

I fired the car up for the first time tonight after the replacement and the wipers are going constantly, they even sped up to crazy warp speed as I started to move down the street (at like 5 mph).

On the plus side the MFSW now works 4.0 for both cruise and radio functions, so that is exciting!!

Looking for both permanent and temporary fixes here. I know the SZL is suppose to have to be recalibrated for my car but I was hoping the used one would be a direct swap. Perhaps I can use NCS Expert to temporarily turn off the rain sensor? Or maybe I can pull a fuse?

Thanks in advance!

I got the wipers to stop running by pulling fuse F9 located in the engine compartment. I tried a few wiper fuses inside the cabin on the passenger side by the floor first and none of those work.

So at least now the wipers aren't going continuously. I suspect the SZL just needs reprogramming.

One way conversation here but...

The SZL I purchased appears to not be rain sensor compatible. While it is very hard to read, the RealOEM table here does appear to say that part number 61313451892 is NOT compatible with a rain sensor. The seller thought the car it came off of had one but I guess he was wrong. I'll be trying another SZL in the near future, in the mean time I'll be looking for a way to disable the rain sensor!

It's easy to identify because they have different icons for the button at the end of the stalk.

Icon for intermittent wipers (non-auto)

Icon for rain sensor has an "A" (for auto):

If it does have an "A" icon, then you have some other issue going on.

Yep, no A on the icon. Never noticed that! Hopefully I can find the right part number this time. In the mean time is there a way to disable the rain sensor but still allow the wipers to work?

I'm also looking for a way to disable the rain sensor without disabling the wipers...
I have an R53 (2006 convertible S) that every so often, loses its mind, and starts the wipers. No way to turn them off.

I would rather lose the auto rain sensing ability then to spend lots of money fixing it.
Thanks!!

(I know this thread is ancient, but I need help!!)

Thanks.
