Which tensioner to use with a new chain ?
Hello everyone I'm new here. A few weeks ago I bought my first 08 MCS and of course I have some problems with
Some time ago I wanted to change tensioner in my mini (cold start death rattle), I bought two 11314609483 (78mm) and 11314609482 (82mm) . After that I decided to change the whole chain and all the other parts. I bought everything I needed on ECS Tuning. My question is which tensioner should I use with the new chain. A guy from ECS says that I should put the longer one 82mm but now I have read "Service Information bulletin SI M11 02 07" that the Longer 82mm Timing chain tensioner, should not be installed with a new timing chain. I'm confused.

I just installed the 5th Gen tensioner even though I had my timing chain components replaced 2 years ago, for about 6 months I had this intermittent sound coming from the timing chain/cylinder #1 after a long drive only at idle. After replacing my tensioner with the longer version noise never came back, the longer tensioner is the newer latest up to date version.
Actually it's the final redesign and is now used when having a new timing chains installed, I was able to push in on the new redesigned 5th Gen longer tensioner and compare it side by side with the 4th Gen redesign. OMG pushing down with my thumb the brand new 4th Gen feels not smooth at all, the 5th Gen feels extremely smooth!
New timing chain kits now come with the longer 5th Gen redesign tensioner.
