Help with Torque Wrench

I used a torque wrench for the first time today to tighten my wheels to 88.5 pounds. Can someone confirm if I set my wrench correctly?

And I tightened it until I heard it click. Is it correct that, that means it has reached the desired torque? If I crank it more, it continues to tighten, and clicks more. So my assumption is that the first click is where I should stop. Can anyone confirm?

Thanks

I don't remember how to adjust those types of wrenches but yes, once you hear the first click stop. Continuously clicking the wrench is pointless and from what I remember in high school auto shop you're over tightening.

The wrench is set correctly. Stop on the first click. Use steady pressure. I normally do it in two stages once at 60 ftlbs with the wheels off the ground and then once the car is on the ground, go back around and final torque all 4 wheels. It is always wise to recheck the torque of the wheels after you have driven them a bit.

Tighten fastner until first click and you are done.

On wheels, I usually go around one more tightening pattern to make sure all lugs are at proper torque. I often find the first lug or two in the pattern turned a little more before the torque wrench clicked again. When I do the second round I am slowly applying torque and release pressure as quickly as I can when I feel and hear the wrench click.
