Purge Solenoid valve?

Anyone know what this stuff is? I read about this in another brand car forum where a faulty Purge Solenoid valve could cause the car to stall.

Or maybe it's called a solenoid canister?

researching and came across this old threat. right wheel well, need to take the wheel off and lock up. hope help fellow Mini Cooper owners

Correction, from Haynes manual: Charcoal canister is in right wheel well, Purge solenoid/tank vent valve is located on a bracket adjacent to the right-hand engine mounting bracket in the engine compartment.
