Not too sure. It looks as if the glass got off track somehow. It may be something where you will need to replace it or take it apart to see if it's off a bit. We did just get in an R56 ourselves and will be doing a lot of DIY's. I can add this issue to the list as I've seen a number of issues with the sunroof. Keep an eye out in our tech articles for when we post them if you do not find a solution soon.

I had the same issue but not as bad.
I removed the glass and cleaned out the track and guides. there was a lot of debris in that area.
I then lubed everything with the recommended grease and now it is working ok.

Did you had to take the liner off to remove the glass?
Thx
Ben

I di not on mine. there were if I remember correctly 3 bolts on each side of each panel that hold the glass in.
they were a small torx bolt, once all 6 were remove from a panel it lifted out the top. that gave me access to all the tracks and cables.

Do this ^^^ and it will often fix the problem. When you replace the glass, be sure that the leading edge of each piece of glass is slightly dipped, or you'll get lots of wind noise. That is, the leading edge of the front piece of glass is slightly lower than the metal, and the leading edge of the rear piece of glass is slightly lower than the trailing edge of the front piece of glass. This is best done with two people - one person on the outside pressing down on the leading edges, and the other person tightening the bolts.

I also had to watch where the bolts were when I reinstalled them.
I did not pay attention the first time after installing the glass and they were off. if you look at them you can see where the washer sat and align them when putting them back in and adjust them slightly as needed. but overall it was not difficult to do.
it was a more work to clean out the tracks and get under all the parts.
