Car stalled while driving
Car stalled while driving
Hi, I noticed that recently my 2006 MCS stalled which driving, for no apparent reasons, some details:
When It happened, car appeared to gradually lose momentum, followed by the “EML” light and “Check Engine Soon” light, then started to shake, as the engine rotation slowed down.
It happened for no apparent reason, I did notice that it seemed to happen more frequently when I did fast acceleration.
After I pulled over, stopped the engine, waited for a little while, it then restarted and drove normally, as if nothing has happened.
I had an ODB scaner connected all the time, but it didn’t return any error code.
It happened more on local road, and rarely occurred on highway.
Most of time it could drive normally for quite some days, even months.
It has been through some repairs, most recently the body shop replaced the throttle housing assembly. It also had new belt, spark plugs, etc.
What would be next steps to troubleshoot this issue?

My friends jeep did this often, and I had a Passat that did this aswell, both for different reasons.
Now, in no way are they similar to a MINI, but some quick checks might help.
The passat would stall out because the air filter hosing was loose, so if it became undone it would slow down and stall out in whatever gear.
The jeep had a very dirty fuel filter, that was preventing it getting fuel and would stall out if he got the RPMs low enough.
Goodluck on the issue though!
