Help with oil leak near oil filter

Hoping someone has see this before. I have oil pooling in the transmission rib next to the oil filter housing. There appears to be no oil on the housing itself. I did an oil change and this didn't help. I also put a new seal in at the vacuum pump. Also no change. The oil appears to drip at the bottom of the trans housing and also running down the O2 sensor wire at the bottom of the exhaust.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

We see leaks in this area all the time. It could be several things and it's hard to tel until you take it apart, but if you do might as well do them all.
It could be the turbo lines leaking which you could replace with our stainless line kit. http://www.waymotorworks.com/wmw-sta...-line-kit.html

Also can be the oil filter housing gaskets

Oil cooler seals

http://www.waymotorworks.com/oil-coo...9-r60-r61.html

And we have seen a couple cracked filter housings

But the worse case is that it could actually be the bed plate of the engine leaking which requires taking the bottom half of the engine apart and is the biggest repair.

There is a how-to in the modifications section on replacing the seals. If you are comfortable with tools and have patience, this is a 4-5 hour job. If you take the time to get to the turbo oil line, you should purchase the seal kits as well. The seals are a common leak point for older MINI's.

You may want to get some brake cleaner and wash down the area really well. Keep a really close eye on where the first sign of oil shows up.

On my car, the valve cover was leaking on the corner above the oil filter as well.

Thank you for the reply. I really hope it's not the latter. It does have a new turbo on it and what looks to be a new turbo oil line.

Thanks for the ideas Mike. The valve cover gasket might be it? I'm no so sure about the oil filter gaskets as they are at or below the rib that is pooling oil. I find it hard to believe oil could travel up hill to get in that rib. I could be wrong though.
