Has anyone else had a waterpump fail ?

MCS 4.5 K miles

Additionally my car had the coolant color change noted and a pinhole leak in the overflow reservoir. This was not effecting the pressure of the system, but did cause leakage as was evident by a off-white buildup on the heat shield below the reservoir.

I had the same leak from the collant expansion tank. My reservior was replaced under warrenty. It's a relatively common issue. Your dealer should hopefully already be familiar with it.

The water pump failed and you had the coolant color change?
Something I hope is not in my future. My coolant was changed
but now my reservoir is leaking....

I read on another site...can't remember which...someone in Canada who
had the coolant color change that his dealer was changing his oil cooler.
What's up MINIUSA???
If this keeps up I may change my quote below to:
At least it isn't a Ford Focus!!!!

I don't know what the official MINI USA, Canada, UK, OR Germany positions are on these issues, but in practice service levels and remedies offered have been inconsistent, and in many cases lacking.

I've read of some dealers bending over backwards with service & warranty to maintain a good customer relationship. Unfortunately this hasn't been my experience... More like find any excuse - plausible, or not to avoid responsibility.

I've experienced severe charger/water pump/coolant-oil/head issues.

MINI grudgingly tested, removed and/or replaced all (evidence of) offending componentry without actually repairing the damage (did not ensure all was at least as good as it was prior to problems). I'm in disbelief at what they attempt to pass off as warranty & acceptable.

All makes of cars experience problems. The difference between buying ANY car, and buying a premium product is supposed to be HOW the manufacturer looks after the customer, especially regarding service, warranty/remedy.

This just might go down as the earliest thread ever brought back from the archives . I don't even think I was a member of MINI2 when this thread was going on (and my MINI was just 5 months old!)

Oh, yeah, and I agree that the inconsistency of MINI dealers is pretty dramatic.

Old, but increasingly pertinant. Felt compelled to seek out historical references. Why start new when one can blow the dust off?

Claims of brown coolant & foamy mustard-like oil being nothing more than moisture in the system (due to short trips) is absolute BUNK. There's another thread which relates - supercharger failures (lost lube) for anyone whose interested - search on Grass Roots Garage.
