I am about to do an OMP steering wheel modification on my R53 and would really like some clarification regarding the green and black connecters and whether or not the black one needs a resistor or not. Judging from the threads I've been looking at, it is not as simple as just plugging in the supplied OMP fused resistor to the green and letting the black hang just hang there. It sounds like most people have plugged in an additional 3.9ohm to the black plug as well, but I don't know for certain because there is no definitive write-up.

I'm really concerned because you basically get one chance and I don't want to screw this up and get everything done on an assumption basis, reconnect the battery, only to have that SRS light pop up...

From what I can tell, you need resistors for the black as well, but as I am not an electrical engineer, I also have no idea what I'm talking about. I would greatly appreciate advice from this excellent community, especially by those who have actually done an aftermarket steering wheel install. :/

 

I installed an aftermarket wheel on my 06 r53, and used the correct resister for the airbag, and the light still came up. I asked around, and everyone that i could speak to that has had an aftermarket exhaust on a mini says that there is no way to avoid the airbag light. As well as the turn signal cancel.
