Just had a new power steering pump fan installed on my car, i have a 2005 r53. The aux stage 1 fan on my car (resistor possibly) is not working and the high speed fan will cut in. However my new p/s fan will only turn on when the ac is on, but will continue to run when the ac is off or if i turn the climate control off in the cabin. is that normal operation for it not to turn on without the ac but to continue to run without it after i turn the climate control off? also it will spin without ac if you start the car soon after its been working..... ideas?

 

The ECM activates the high speed fan relay when the engine temp reaches 122C (251F). Once the engine temp drops by 4C (7F) the engine cooling fan will run in low speed and the power steering fan will deactivate. [ source: Diagnosis Without Guesswork - Bentley Publishers ].
