February or March?
February or March?
Hello all,
It's been a while since I visited.
I was wondering if anyone has come across this problem, this would be for very
early coopers.
I have ordered H&R springs from one of the advertising vendors here at NAM.
which I have recieved in a timely fashion. I have a cooper according to the
Data tag inside the door jam that was manufactored in 02/02.
I checked the H&R site for a part number that fits these coopers. The part
# 50416-1 is what H&R site listed as the correct part, and this is what I have recieved.
So today, I try to install them-----guess what
The ends of the springs are wound too tight to fit the "cups" of the strut!!!!
( you do realize, that this only happens because no one loves me! ).
Here's a couple of pics to see what I mean,
New Spring Large End Lower Strut

New Spring Large end Upper Strut

New Spring Small end Upper Strut

New Spring Small end Lower Strut

Does any one know why this is? I'm lost!!!!!
Thanx,
Mcooper

Well I'm not sure I had posted my original message in the right forum.
but I did find an answer to my problem and now have H&R springs installed.
My cooper is a 02/02 build, so I originally ordered the springs for the early coopers. as you see they didn't fit.
Well when I first got my mini, it pulled real bad ( I think was to the left)
anyway, complained to dealer and Mini-USA, reply that they know of the problem on some of the cars. about a month later, I get a call from the dealer
and was told my parts were in for the pull fix.
Not realizing that they installed post March strut assemblies for the fix!!!!!
( front only ).
So if anyone has an early cooper and had problem with it pulling, you most likley
have post March struts installed. ( the rears remain the same ).
I like to give a special thanks to Aaron from OutMotoring for working
with me with this problem.
Have a good day
