loss of boost after oil feed line replacement...

Hello.

After performing the turbo oil line, filter mount seal replacement, the car didn't feel right. The punch when getting on the gas is gone. My obd tells me there are no codes, pending or otherwise. I'm fairly new to turbo engines so I'm not sure what to check. I would think that in its current state, a code or two would be thrown but I have none. The annual service indicator came on but I'm not sure if that would put my car in limp mode (if this is what this condition is). I did clear the service indicator in hopes that would release more boost, but it didn't. I have no noticeable exhaust leaks and other than the limited boost, the replacement/repair was a success. I'm trying to get the car ready for its annual state inspection.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what other things I can check?

I have 70 k on the clock.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like the impeller may not be spinning up...

On a cold engine, see if you can get to the intake side of the turbo snail housing with the (plastic removed) reach in with your finger and see if the impeller will spin freely.

If it feels like it is binding or not turning you can have anything from build up on the exhaust housing to a frozen bearing.

Also check the waste gate valve make sure it is not stuck in the open position.

After that... Hmmmm?

Best of luck.

Motor on!

Cool, a Mini racer. Thanks for replying.

The impeller is fine as I spun it when I had the down pipe off. The waste gate, was that the round valve connected to a rod that ran the underside of the turbo? I'm thinking maybe I bumped that rod with the downpipe when I was putting it back together again. I'll have to pull the heat shield

Thanks for your help, I hope you win your next 50 races.

You would have really had to hit that wastegate actuator hard in order to do any damage to it.

Did you remove any of the charge piping during the job?

Is the intake piping tight to the compressor inlet? The car will run poorly, or even not start if the Mass Air Flow sensor isn't monitoring proper intake air flow.

It was/ is the o2 sensor, at least I hoping that's all it was.. Over the past several days, it has been showing up as pending, then full blown check engine light. So it looks like it was in some sort of limp mode all along. How can I tell if I'm running rich, or lean? Thanks for your help!

Okay, this is the second time this happened. There was a plug unplugged that I missed and it was attached to that wastegate cylinder. I'm embarrassed but more importantly, I'm concerned that my obdc/torque app didn't report any codes. I would think something that controls boost would report it was offline/shorted.

For my punishment, while crawling around under the car today, I noticed a new coolant leak , passenger side towards the wheel, its not the thermostat, which I just replaced. Does it ever end with this car?!

Thanks for everyone's help.

Torque was working fine, it's a very generic code reader, so it won't read manufacturer specific codes.

Good to see the original issue is handled, but it sounds like you're in for a water pump.
