The LCD odometer in my 02 Cooper S has gone dark on me, the screen has some faint glow behind it but is not displaying any sort of mileage or trip mileage. It seemed to just stop working one day after i started her up in the morning. I picked up a new Speedo unit off of ebay, but after reading all over the internet about the mileage inaccuracies it will cause i'm hesitant to go through with the replacement.

Any standard fixes for this problem? Is there any way to disassemble and test this LCD screen? Anyone had a similar problem?
