AC not cold at idle and preventative maintenance
Hi everyone, about to do another bit of preventative maintenance on the Mini.
Looking for some advise from my friendly Mini owners!
She has about 46.5k miles now, this stuff recently done at 45.5k miles:
Cabin air filter changed (was dirty and even had a dead mouse with pine needles
)
Coolant flush + aluminum expansion tank
Madness strut tower reinforcement plates
Fuel Filter changed
Tranny fluid changed
Oil + filter
Oiled the CAI
Planned:
Brake fluid flush
Durman Gen 1 Fan Relay Kit (believe the low speed fan is out, heard this is a good fix for the likely blown resistor)
Checking power steering clamps and hoses etc
Gates belt tensioner
Super Damper 0.8%
Checking power steering fan coming on with low-speed rad. fan
Anything else recommended or easy to do "while in there?" Any objections?
Also, the AC unit isn't blowing cold at idle. It blows kinda cold air when driving it. I've replaced the cabin air filter without much improvement. Any suggestions?

Fixing the cooling fan will help with the AC....when there is no airflow over the condenser...it is not surprising the Ac is working like crap!!
It may also be a bit low on r134a......be very careful...the system only holds a VERY small amount..a FRACTION of the refill can that are sold.
I would FIX it asap...with no fan running, the AC system is running at higher than normal psi......stressing it...many folks find the compressor fails..then realize they have a bad fan....

Thanks Zippy, really appreciate the input. Hopefully that solves the AC problem and prevents it from dying.
Searched these forums pretty extensively for this, cant find it. Anywhere to get new PS hose clamps? Is there any way to lock this down to make sure it doesn't fail or is it just clamps? Delete isn't an option as SWMBO is driving it...

When my fan had can issue I just got a tyc fan from rockauto about 6 years...cost, about $100....
There are various mods to keep the old fan running....
My take was it get beat to heck with driving rain, wind, salt, etc...so I just swapped it out.
A few threads around on fixes...some used a better resistor from mouser electronic (a wholesale internet supplier) others bumpered the wire...some bought a kit from Detroit tuned....me...thought of tossing $20-50 to fix a $100 on it last leg did not make sense to me considering you need to yank the fan for most of thecmods.....why jurey rig a fix that saves so little....
For clamps, not sure... But guessing folks usually use what they find locally...so guessing regular hose clamps....
