Headlight fixed
Headlight fixed
The drivers side headlight was looking down when I bought my 05 convertible. Somewhere here I read that it could be fixed without disassembly. I took the light out and opened up the bulb access ports. I could see that the servo ball joint was separated. It looked hard to get to. I needed something with a hook on it to hook over the opened ball joint and try to pull it back together. I found a bicycle spoke, and the hub end has a nice hook on it. For a handle I clamped the spoke into a vise grip and carefully directed the spoke end into the light till I could hook the ball joint, then I firmly pulled till with a click/thunk the joint reattached. I thought it would take a real hard pull, but it didn't. Now, it lights up the road ahead instead of right in front of the car. Somewhere else here I read a caution to not slam the hood, because doing so can separate the servo ball joint. This makes sense since the lights are attached to the hood and they get lots of shock, so slamming it could dislodge the joint. No more hood slamming for me.
