Crankshaft damper

So im trying to replace mine since its hit the dust but ive run into a problem.
I cant get the bolt off so i can do the swap.

How the crap do you get this thing off?
Ive loaded this thing with pb blaster and tried brute force between myself and 2 others and nada. I just tried an impact gun but it didnt do it either.

I dont have any dealers nearby to do this for me. And all my local shops wont touch a mini.

Mines a 2006 s auto. I know you gotta use m6 bolts and something to stop it from spinning but all that did was break off the m6 bolts.

Managed to get it off with a higher powered impact gun.
There was loctite on the end of the bolt and a little bit of rust on the top that the pb didnt get.

Nothin i read said to use loctite. Should i be using this stuff when i put on the new crankshaft damper?

Proper MINI protocol is to replace the bolt and the new bolt comes with blue thread locker on it. They are not torque to yield so you can technically re use them and apply more thread locker.

Ahh alright.
Ill get a new one since i wore this one down a bit anyway.

Another question... did anyone have a real hard time getting the damper off the car?
Mine just wont pop off. Im on day 4 and i just want my car back in use im having to rely on others for rides and it sucks.
Ive seen where some people say torch it to help but i dont have a torch.

use a balancer puller, most parts stores will loan you one but sometimes you have to get small enough bolts to use on a mini. I think they are M6 threads on the pulley. You can use the old bolt to push against also. Just use a wrench to hold it and keep the puller from turning it back in.

I had a hell of a time getting mine off, had to modify a 3 jaw puller to be able to grab it, torched it and eventually it came off. It was a serious task getting her off. Luckily mine was sloppy enough I could get a puller behind it.

I am using a balancer puller. But 2 of the 3 m6 bolts broke off when i was getting the center bolt off cause i have an auto. So i cant screw them in super deep. They go in well enough though.

Might have to see if anyone i know has a torch i can use then. Stubborn thing.

You can get a propane torch at any hardware store for under $20.
