Hey guys, just noticed something for the first time yesterday with my new Cooper. After driving my Cooper and parking it in my garage, I heard a few light knocking noises after I got out of my car. Doesn't sound anything too bad. Just sounds like the car is settling from the drive. Is this normal???

 

Likely just the heat shields underneath contracting.

I believe its just everything cooling off too. heatshields etc. Brutus does the same. take care

Are you talking "creaking" which would mean heat shields expanding or "knocking" which COULD be "run on" or "dieseling" which means you are using cheap gas and your engine want to continue to run cuz the crap your feeding it has left deposits that are still hot and are exploding the remainins of fuel on top of your pistons....NOT a good thing.....

 

does it sound kind of like a muffled bump? when i'm filling up on mini-food (93 octane at shell) and the fuel tank is getting full, it starts making a bump...bump...bumpbumpbump click noise. the click being the gas pumper stopping.

mine makes that noise sometimes when just kind of sitting around.
