2nd High Pressure Fuel Pump Failed Out of Warranty
Our MCS HPFP just crapped out - again! The first time was in 2011 and it was covered under the MINI/BMW warranty extension. Now 2.5 years and 45K miles later the replacement unit has broken and the dealer (Princeton MINI) is saying it's out of warranty and the HPFPs don't last forever. But c'mon, that's pretty lame for a part the manufacturer knows to be poorly designed/built.
Anybody have any luck getting MINI/BMW to cover their 2nd HPFP out of warranty?
I thought the HPFP was covered under 100k miles warranty? Doesn't make any sense. Have you tried calling MINI NA?
The 1st HPFP was covered at 100K 2.5 years ago under MINI's extended coverage program. The replacement just failed with 50K on it. The dealer says we are out of luck because the repair was only covered for 2 years. They seem to be saying that that's how long HPFP's last I think I need to get in touch with the MINI/BMW zone rep. Anybody know how to do that?

Were they both covered under warranty? How long did the 1st one last? It sounds like MINI/BMW never fixed the problem, they just replaced the crappy pump with another crappy pump and prayed the problem would go away.
