Speed Sensor

06 MCS JCW...
So after having the EML, Tire monitor, and Traction control lights come on (in addition to my car going into "limp mode" [what a garage calls it], ie unable to accelerate) whenever I hit a substantial bump (this all started after hitting some nasty potholes on NYC highway). I decided to replace the speed/ABS sensor on the driver's front (where I thought hit the holes the hardest). *I should add, if I flick the ignition off, everything's fine until the next bump.

NOW I have the ABS, Tire, and Traction lights coming on, in addition to the EML when I hit a jarring bump (and limp mode).

I've unplugged the sensor I just replaced, a couple times, but those dang lights still appear.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like an intermittent connection. Any signs of damage to the connector clips?

Strongly recommend ordering this, it can interrogate your DSC.

You've got something other than the wheel speed sensor bad. Get the codes read for the ABS and go from there.
If you need a tool to read the codes the Easy Diag tool is cheap and can read them.

Thanks. I'll look into those. I'll be getting my front struts done in a week or so, if I can't get anywhere by then, I'll hand it over to the garage.

Remember....
Limp mode occurs when the ecu sees something (like a sensor reading out of limits, either cause the sensor is broken or a part has failed) and basicly says "I can't go on" and goes to limp mode...kinda like a safe mode on a computer.... Let's you get to the side of the road....
Restarting the car temporarily clears everything...letting you drive...till the bad reading is seen again. I'd bet 99% that you wheel speed sensors have nothing to do with it...just don't think that system can interact with the ecu in that way....good luck!!

Zippy is correct, the speed sensor will not make the car go into limp mode.

Thanks. Unfortunately the info I received earlier on was the speed sensor. Replaced, now I have the speed sensor error lights to deal with in addition to the previous. Live and learn.
