My AC quit working at the end of the summer last year. Had a mechanic check it out a couple days ago and he said it's the pressure switch. I know the clutches go bad in these so before I spend the money on a unit, I want to try the cheaper option and change the pressure switch first. So my question is, can the switch be changed without having the freon removed, or do I have to have the system evacuated?
