Fuel Filter Housing
Fuel Filter Housing
So, last weekend I finished up some long overdue maintenance on my wife's '04 MCS:
I've attached a modified picture I shamelessly stole from the web to show the breakage point. I was able to retrieve the small piece. Since that flange is where the metal ring pushes the housing against the seal, I just put the piece in place and installed the ring.
I took the car for a spin, and with the new umph from the pulley I had plenty of opportunity for hard cornering. I didn't see any leakage from that area, but I could detect a faint gas smell. That might just be leftover from the rather messy filter change. I'll pull up the seat and check again, especially after a fuel fill-up. I'd really rather just have a replacement housing top, but a new one (includes entire housing, level sensor, filter, and seals) is $170 from ECS. I'd rather just find a used one, but all I can find on eBay is one in the UK, and they don't appear to ship internationally.
So, now to my questions: Anyone here parting a car or know of a good source of used bits? Also, why do all the fuel filter kits come with 2 of the big seals that go between the housing and the tank?
- All new motor and transmission mounts
- Fresh coolant (& replacement for leaking reservoir)
- New water pump, thermostat, and t-stat housing
- New serpentine belt, tensioner, idler, and crank pulley
- Rebuilt SC (after finding the original PTO bone dry and full of metal dust!)
- Replaced leaking crank sensor seal
- New O2 sensors, plugs, air filter, and cabin filter
- Last, but not least, new fuel filter
