Modified oil pan
Modified oil pan
I was wanting some feedback from everyone on the oil pans from way motor work and madness mini. I've got the lovely gasket leak and I am going to have it fixed soon but I came across these and was curious if it's worth the money.
since you will have your pan off anyway, you can send it in as a core and save money if theres nothing wrong with it.
if you have the money for it, theres no reason not to. it wont hurt anything.
however, if you arent driving the car hard (taking hard corners... etc) there wont be much need for it. like i said though, it wont hurt anything, and youll have already done half the work.
if youre not talking about the baffled pans, im not sure what you mean by modified.

I'm not so sure on the Madness pan. I see the the baffles in the pan but traditionally there are trap doors that allow oil to move only towards the oil pickup. Like the WMW pan. And holy crap the Madness pan is twice the price. I think I'd go for the WMW pan.
But of course unless you're pulling a fair amount of sustained G's (long sweepers on a road course on sticky tires) oil starvation typically isn't an issue. Keep in mind it isn't unheard of welds in the oil pans cracking and the baffles coming loose. You are introducing another point of failure into what is typically a very simple component (oil pan). Do you log oil pressure to know that your pressure is dropping around corners?

Yea the price is what scared me for sure! And as simple as the one from madness looks I could easily take mine to a machine shop here In town and have them weld it and not bee out all that mouth

I just come across the pan while looking for gaskets and thought it was a cool concept but as far as my driving goes other than back road twisties and maybe some SCCA Parking lot courses that's really no serious driver here just like having fun with my MINI

I honestly think I won't use it cause you have a great point now that I think of it welds break and why make something complicated if it doesn't need to be?
