2013 Roadster. The drivers side power fold mirror does not always open to the same spot. Sometimes it stops just short. If I close the mirrors and then reopen it then it will fully extend. I also notice when it does this the mirror body is slightly loose, meaning I can wiggle it. Then when I close and reopen, it drives hard against a stop and does not seem to have much play in it. It does not always do this and I can always fix it with a second operation of the switch. The dealer looked at it but could not duplicate the problem. any ideas?

 

Both my 2012 and my wife's 2010 do this as well a few times per week. Really annoying when I don't notice right away because you can't fold them in once you're going over 10 mph, so sometimes I'm stuck with partially folded mirrors until I get to a red light.

I think some people have had luck getting their dealer to reprogram. I meant to mention the issue last time I was in for service, but I forgot.

 

When I was in for service the mechanic folded the mirrors manually and then operated the switch. This may a loud click which the mechanic said was normal and was supposed to reset the system. It did not fix the problem.

 

Same problem here. They replaced /everything/. Probably a unresolved bug.

lol same here.. 2011.. sometimes they won't fold all the way (both) or unfold.. go figure.. to fix it always have to crank that switch twice.. brought it to attention of Mini Cooper in Grand Rapids MI several times, always the same: COULDNT REPLICATE problem.. blah blah blah..

 

Mine folds fine every single time. The problem is unfolding. More often than not, both sides will stop in the middle. Have to re-fold then unfold w/c will usually fix it. It was really annoying at first since they won't respond when you reach some speed.
