Smog Fail

Hola,

My fiances '07 Mini Cooper R56 SOHC Auto is having issues and failing smog. I've searched high and low for possible causes, but unfortunately I'm having trouble narrowing the problem down enough to know whether I'm capable of fixing it or not. The ecu is coming back with a camshaft position sensor(B) code. I have replaced the sensor, but the engine light and symptoms persist. Those include:

-Yellow C/E light
-Intermittent low power/hesitation on acceleration, most noticeably at complete stops, and freeways after around 3k rpm. Very noisy, revvs high but lacks power. Struggles to reach 60mph at times.
-Oil leak dripping from front left of car, in vicinity of oil filter
-Oil consumption seems to be heavy
-ECU is stubbornly suggesting a problem with camshaft positioning sensor B. Replaced with brand new one, but light and code persist.
-Weak idle without stalling

I would be very grateful for any tips or recommendations. Registration is expired and can't get passed smog. I do believe I'll have to take the car in, but if I can fix the problem myself I will.

Thank you

This is the world we live in where people see a stranded motorist on the side of the road and continue driving thinking someone else will stop and help out. Some come here for answers to problems and don't feel the need to update their thread because they most likely won't be back unless they have another problem.

What you didn't see he has only 1 post?
