Engine issue, not sure if dealer fixed underlying problem

Engine issue, not sure if dealer fixed underlying problem

Hi NAM folks. I'm on my second MINI, but I haven't been around the boards much lately. Current MINI is a 2012 MC automatic with 31K.

It's been a little sluggish/jerky in the mornings. I figured it was just due to the cold. Yesterday I got a few miles down the road on the way to work, and my engine fault light came on and the car starting running incredibly rough. I lost much of the power and limped to the dealer (per the manual, the yellow fault light was okay to drive on). Dealer said all four spark plugs were bad and replaced them. According to dealer, "the faults stored were 0027BB, 0027BC, 0027BD, and 0027BE. These faults represent a misfire on cylinders 1, 2, 3, and 4 but random in nature. "

That seems to have fixed the primary problem. No hesitation, nice purr at speed, good power, etc. My question: when I drove it from the dealer to work, I noticed an occasional jerk/small shudder at idle. Didn't seem like it was coming from the engine compartment; more from the rear. That was much diminished by the time I drove it home from work. Now it seems to be a very slight hiccup occasionally (just at idle). You have to really pay attention to it to notice. This does now seem to come from the engine compartment.

It seems crazy to have four plugs get fouled at once. And I don't recall any hiccup at idle before. Is there some underlying issue that still needs to get fixed? Any advice would be gratefully accepted. Thanks!

Since you have a 2012 I would take it back to your dealer, explain in


detail what the problem is, leave it with them and get a loaner til they


have fixed it.

What they fail to tell you is that 4 failed spark plugs means it's something else. 1 spark plug gone, okay, isolated cylinder, maybe plug was bad, whatever.


all 4? no. that means it's probably running overly rich or lean. perhaps failing HPFP. it's a systemic issue and not the plugs. I'm speaking from experience.

Thanks for the advice, guys. You've validated my concerns. I am troubled that the dealer didn't do more to diagnose the root of the issue, but they were slammed and down a few techs that day, so I kind of understand the impulse to slap a bandaid on and get me out of there. Unfortunately my dealer doesn't do loaners, so if this is a tricky problem to fix, I'll be without transportation.

Bu, birincil sorunu çözmüş gibi görünüyor. Tereddüt yok, hızda güzel bir mırıltı, iyi güç, vb. Soruma gelince: Bayiden işe giderken, rölantide ara sıra bir sarsıntı/küçük titreme fark ettim. Motor bölmesinden geliyormuş gibi görünmüyordu; daha çok arkadan geliyordu. İşten eve getirdiğimde bu çok azalmıştı. Şimdi ara sıra çok hafif bir aksaklık gibi görünüyor (sadece rölantide). Fark etmek için gerçekten dikkat etmeniz gerekiyor. Bunun artık motor bölmesinden geldiği anlaşılıyor.

Aynı anda dört bujinin kirlenmesi çılgınca görünüyor. Ve daha önce rölantide herhangi bir aksaklık hatırlamıyorum. Hala düzeltilmesi gereken temel bir sorun mu var? Herhangi bir tavsiye minnettarlıkla kabul edilecektir. Teşekkürler![/QUOTE
