Timing chain reimbursement advice?
Timing chain reimbursement advice?
Anyone had any luck getting reimbursed for their Timing Chain replacement? I was just notified by the dealer that it needs to be replaced, but I just spent money having it done at a independent shop a few months ago. Anyone had any luck getting reimbursed for the repair? Any advice?
What year is your car? Was the timing chain going to be replaced under warranty? Was it replaced by an independant shop and now needs to be replaced again? All these will be a factor in what the dealership will be willing to do.
I have a 2008 Cooper S, and at 58k the car had the thermostat, timing chain, and a valve cover all need replacement at the same time. The dealer told us it was our fault because we had let the car run out of oil (we hadn't, it had oil). We had the dealership do the thermostat and valve cover, but had an independent shop do the timing chain with OEM parts. The dealer wanted far too much money to do the repair. This was in June. We just took it in this last week and the dealer let us know about the new service campaign. They are offering to redo the work, but not to reimburse us for the work already done, as it was done at an independent repair shop. I was wondering if anyone had had any success getting Mini to reimburse for work done outside the dealership to replace the timing chain prior to the service campaign?
