Intermittent code P0130

Vehicle: stock '06 MCS with 47k miles.

I've had the P0130 code appear randomly for 2 months now. At the beginning, it came on only during cold starts. And now for the first time, it came on while I was driving on the freeway at normal operating temperature. The code always goes away after 3-4 start cycles. The car works fine with no performance or poor fuel consumption issues.

After some browsing on the web, it looks like this is a pre-cat oxygen sensor issue... assuming there's no leaks at the exhaust/CAT gasket.

I kinda hope that it would stay on permanently so I can bring the car to the dealer for service (per extended warranty for '04-06 MY). Can the tech scan the ECM to diagnose the operation of the sensor w/o the code and determine if it's on its way out? What should I do?

Your inputs are appreciated.
