Hood/Trunk Lid warning light staying on.

My '02 R50 had trunk lid hinges that were stiff. I didn't know about the chronic issue until too late and the lid was out of alignment, hard to latch closed, and the hood/trunk lid warning light (and interior lights) were staying on. I got replacement hinges, pulled out the headliner, and had my favorite body guy install them. When I picked it up yesterday the hatch is working perfectly but the dash warning lights and the interior lights are still staying on.

Where is the switch for the trunk lid?
What else could be the problem?

That switch is notorious. Try a small stick-on felt chair leg glider on the boot door right where it makes contact with the switch. Real hot temps, the glue will get soft and the pad might move a little, just slide it back into position. Also, if you want to look it up, rumor has it that there is a replacement switch with a longer throw that mitigates the problem but then you've got to take the whole thing apart.

Thanks for the tip. Can someone post where the contact switch is located for both the boot and the bonnet, please. '04 S. TIA.

Here is the hood one for the R50 R52 R53 , and the trunk for the R52 Convertible.

Think the switch of the trunk is in the rear latch assembly for the R50/ R53 Hardtops. Check the hood one first, its the one that causes most of the problems.

thanks

Thanks for the response, and pics. My case was the boot as I had moved the latch too far forward in an attempt to tighten the closed position.

My above post was mostly a calling out of the poster who thought the sensor was a classic plunger switch which could be tricked by adding a piece of felt. Not the case.
