Noise from transmission while maintaining speed.

Hopefully someone on here can help me out, this is driving me nuts!

My wife wanted to take the MCS out yesterday to learn how to drive a manual car. She has taken it out 2 other times with minor issues. Mainly the starts.

Yesterday she was doing great except for a mis-shift which went from 3rd to 2nd. When she shifted it was around 3k rpm. The car jolted and she immediately pushed the clutch in and stopped. She started feeling horrible at that point and wanted me to take over.

When driving back home I noticed a weird gear "whine". I drained the fluid out and checked for metal shavings. I filled it back up with Royal Purple (That's all I could find on a sunday night). Took the car out, noise still persists.

It seems to happen when maintaining speed in any gear, any speed. When I floor it or coast the sound goes away. Revving the engine doesn't produce the noise. When I slowly engage the clutch the noise comes back. High speed corners don't produce any irregular noise besides the one that I described if I am maintaining speed.

A little info about the car. It's a 2007 MCS, with limited slip and 108k miles.

Did you ever discover the issue?

I am having a very similar problem. Car makes a slight rattling noise when under in an gear, and especially when under acceleration. Does NOT make noise when in neutral and you rev the engine. It sure sounds like it's coming from the trans.

Car is a 2004 Justa, manual trans.

Thoughts?

Sorry for my poor English......

Same thing happened on my 2007 MCS!
I wanted shift from 3rd( AT REDLINE!) to 4th but make a mistake into 2nd.
Than I noticed a weird gear "whine" like yours.
Opened the gearbox and everything seems all right and no metal shavings .
Changed the flywheel but no luck, the "whine" sound still there.

If you find where the problem is, please update it .

Sounds to me like the input shaft bearing.
