Houston or Austin Mechanic Recommendations

I live in College Station, TX and have had extremely bad experiences with the service department at Mini of the Woodlands. While the 'service advisors' are generally pleasant in person (but not responsive to voicemail or e-mail), the dealership's work quality has been suspect; at least as it pertains to my car. Without getting into the details, they mis-diagnosed problems I was having with my TPMS light and the rear hatch latch. One of the two issues remains unfixed. Based on how they have addressed these issues, I am not confident that the $1,125 repair they are suggesting will actually correct the problem I am having with my sunroof. Further, on three occasions they have said my car was fixed, and each time I have had to either return it to the dealer to readdress the issue, or live with the problem until the next time I need service. From my experiences, their mechanics are too quick to deem the issue resolved without taking the vehicle on a proper test drive to verify that they have indeed solved the problem.

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in either the Houston or Austin areas? Specifically, have people had good experiences with Momentum Mini or Mini of Austin?

For more of a local response, I suggest you try posting on the FB page of Houston Mini Motoring Society (HMMS). They have a very wide membership base.

Also, my Mini is under warranty and is serviced by MOTW. I have had nothing but excellent service. Have you tried discussing your issues with Keith (Sales Manager) and Paula (Customer Service Manager). They have historically been very prompt & responsive in resolving issues voiced by other Mini community members. BTW HMMS has a number of active members from College Station/Bryan area. Please come join us some time.

I live in Austin and have had both my father's and my MINI serviced at MINI of Austin. While their parts department sucks, their service department is awesome. One of the biggest things I like is they have an open layout in the service bay, meaning you can actually walk over to your car and look at the work being done and talk with the techs doing the work.

Could also try MINI of Dallas and MINI of Plano if you wanted to go north any.
