Rear hatch just keeps opening

Sometimes it it will open 6 or 8 times in a row without it being reclosed. I will be driving down the road and the hatch will open and I get the warning. Seems to stay closed best when I get in and use fob to lock, but not a sure thing. HELP

better yet, if you have less than 50k miles take it to the dealer, should be covered under warranty.

This sounds like water has got into the bootlid and then into the electric boot release.

1) Open the bootlid and look right down (at what was) the bottom and see a little rubber plug maybe 1/2" square near the electrical harness. Pull that plug out and shut the bootlid - is water draining out? This is a common Convertible fault and leaving the plug out seems to be a permanent cure.

2) If you want, remove the bootlid handle (I don't remember if that requires removing the bootlid lining or not). It can't be dismantled but I managed to dry mine out by putting it in a very cool fan oven for 30 minutes, after which it worked fine again.

Yea sounds either like water in the tailgate of the handle is not working all together.

Here is a link to both of them. That way you can narrow it down.
