I don't own a mini but my girlfriend does and I'm wondering what the cause of this is... As the car comes to a stop the speedometer ticks down to zero as she comes from the stop speedometer ticks from 0 up untill about 20 mph. I've never seen this but is this a speed sensor issue or a gear issue... Someone help

 

Your talking about the large center speedo?

Ticking sound?

It's a stepper motor driven gauge.. If its clicking.. I'd suspect that it's something internal to the stepper motor.

Does the center tach speedo work ok? Is the odometer still reading?
