help...strange chiming noise?

Ok...got my belts on...all door closed...hood securely latched...no warning lights...but as I'm driving along today, I get a single chime about every minute sometimes more frequently. What's going on? Has anyone experienced this?

Like all day ,no warning lamps?Try the three start to clear thing.
Good that we can let each other know about such goings on

Believe it or not, that happens on my F-350 sometimes....maybe they are cousins.... :smile: It's happened for close to 60K miles and other than my clutch blowing up, nothin else has happened...I put it down to s...t happens.... :smile: :smile:

It went away for a while and now it's back. This is driving me nuts :evil: My Mini chimes once every minute for who know what????????

No ones experienced this before?

My brother had an Audi TT that did this. And now this is really going to help you.....I can't remember why it did it....

Is it possible that the seat belt sensor is going bad and it is reminding you to put it on?

I have the Schroth on and when I disconnect them from the factory unit, the belt indicator light comes on. So it seems to be ok. The strange thing is that none of the warning lights are showing anything wrong. I do have the DSC off and park/fog light on...my daily preflight setup. Checked all the fluids too....???? I've reset my 10k maintance interval a few weeks ago too :evil:

You need a louder exhaust to overpower the chime

I get roughly the same thing. I pulled in my garage the other day, shut off the car, took the keys out of the ignition, opened the door and "DING" for no apparent reason. I wonder what that is It's happend several times already...

Roadglide my MINI chimes once when I get out,key is out of ignition,everything is off.
Not all the time,just once and awhile.
Misfitoy,it looks like a trip to the dealer and get the computer hooked up,

The key-in-ignition chime in my '03 MCS goes off sometimes after the key has been taken out (if the door is open). Typical situation: park car, open door quickly while removing the key from ignition, chime begins to ring and continues once or twice after key is removed. Sounds like a point-of-no-return thing where the alert is already set in motion...kind of like self-parking wipers I've never considered it a problem. JR

I don't think thats related to what I'm talking about though. My chime is on only when I'm driving.

Just a correction about something above. Factory default is for the "Cold" package to turn on at 37 degrees. That's when mine chimes and flashes on the computer display on the tach.

Whats that? I didn't experiement with any programing. Also, this happens while the car is stopped too (engine running). Haven't gone over 100 this week

I have the Nav system and you can set a speed to chime when you pass it. I dont know if its available on the non nav computer system. On the NAv its in with all the other driving computer functions.

the explanation I got for the seemingly arbitrary 37 F. from Gary King at Mini Peabody is that that is the temperature that bridges and overpasses will freeze at.Seems like yours may need a swift kick in the ECU,Yes?( my car has the trip computer if that makes a difference. Jock

Yes, it appears that I had the limit box checked on my computer. What is that for? The chiming seems to have gone away after I unchecked it.

The speed chime is to warn you when you go over a preset speed. Suppose you have a heavy right foot, like the rest of us, when you set it for 65 it will chime to tell you have exceeded the speed. Think of it as tying a string around your finger to remind you to not speed. Or you can set it to 130 and use to tell you when you have exceeded 130 WITHOUT looking down to the speedo.
