Noticed recently that I get a crazy sounding rattle when the air conditioning is on. It sounds like screws being shaken in a tin can. Rattle gets louder as the fan cycles. Is this my compressor failing? Any other potential sources? I'd really like to avoid having to go through the entire A/C system.

checked the power steering fan and it's ok. Rattle goes away when the A/C is off so I figure it's not the idler pulley or tensioner, but could be wrong. Don't really know the car all that well yet.

Any help would be appreciated!
